Eating at my favorite pizza place and having an excellent beer.

Time for the cups to go to a new home.

One of my favorite parts of the LBGP is all of the rad stuff for sale. Next is a Flying Lizard shirt.

Bracket making time

Pedals are ready to go.  I was having major issues with the three pedals not being aligned.  I guess this is a common problem in 911s.  I was frustrated with how much I had to move my leg to brake, and that there was 3” of free travel in the brake pedal before it started actuating the master cylinder.  This problem combined with glazed pads had caused me to lose it a couple of times on turn 1 at Streets of Willow.  To remedy this I had a bracket with an adjustment screw welded in to adjust the brake pedal resting position, and  modified the bracket for the brake light switch.  They were also pretty beaten up, so while they were out of the car I sanded them down and sprayed them with some epoxy paint.  Now they look as good as the interior and rollbar.  I’m one step closer to finishing my interior weight loss/clean up project and getting my car ready for the track this weekend.

Yesterday I drove this 573hp 644ft-lb Dinan Alpina B7.  I was blown away by how smooth and comfortable this car was.  120mph felt like 60 in any other car.  I felt like I could have been doing a 140mph with a cup of coffee in one hand, texting with the other, and steering with my knee.

A little preview of what’s to come. I’m also having new outers made in the widest size available being for the rear.

Just got a super sweet poster

2002 at the WFC meet

I was pleasantly surprised when my CHT gauge came in today. The story behind it is even more pleasant though. I emailed the gentleman that makes these a couple months back inquiring about the cylinder head temp gauges he was making. We emailed back and forth for a few weeks and as the emails progressed I became more impressed with the customer service of this one man operation. His gauge came in blue and I wanted red. He said he would send me the blue gauge and then send me the red one when he got the special order in stock along with a prepaid box to send the blue one back. I agreed and asked him how he’d like me to pay him. He responded saying he didn’t want me to pay. He preferred to send me the product and then once I decided I liked it to paypal him the money. He said he preferred to deal with fellow Porsche enthusiasts this way. I was floored at this point by his phenomenal customer service. This was the exact opposite of my experiences in every other car community I’ve been involved with, where payment is demanded upfront and deals are often delayed or feel shady. This wasn’t the first time this had happened either. Steve at Rennsport Systems sent me a custom master cylinder and told me to put a check in the mail when I got a chance. Experiences like this remind me why I love the aircooled Porsche community.
